WomenVenture now in third year at AirVenture

By Janice Wood · May 4, 2010 ·

Plans are in place for the WomenVenture initiative at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2010. “WomenVenture is a fantastic opportunity to reach out to women at this world-class aviation event,” said WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian. “WomenVenture provides an accessible way for women to take their first step into the aviation community whether as a pilot, for a career, or just for fun.”

WomenVenture will expand to two days for 2010, and kicks off with an evening at the Theater in the Woods on Thursday, July 30, at 7 p.m. Chabrian will host a panel including NASA Astronaut Bonnie Dunbar and Space Station Commander Peggy Whitson.

The activities continue on Friday morning at 9 a.m. with a breakfast for all WomenVenture participants in the EAA Nature Center. Tickets for this breakfast are available by calling WAI at 937-839-4647 or at the Women in Aviation, International booth at EAA AirVenture.

The highlight of WomenVenture for many is the group photo of women pilots taken in AeroShell Square. Free T-shirts are distributed to all WomenVenture-registered pilots, including student pilots. The photograph will be taken following the WomenVenture breakfast on Friday, July 30, at 10:30 a.m.
