Miracle on Hudson’s Skiles to speak at Atlanta Aero Club

By Janice Wood · May 12, 2010 ·

Jeff Skiles, the US Airways Pilot best known as Sully Sullenberger’s first officer in the Miracle on the Hudson, is the featured guest speaker for the regular bi–monthly meeting of the Atlanta Aero Club May 20.

Skiles has logged more than 20,000 hours during his flying career, which spans three decades including 24 years with US Airways. He currently serves as vice president of the Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations representing more than 28,000 pilots. In this role, he has been interviewed on numerous occasions by the national media and has testified several times before congressional committees.

In addition, Skiles is active in general aviation, along with Sully, as the co-chairman of the EAA Young Eagles program which promotes aviation as a future career or avocation for young people. He also owns a 1935 WACO YOC cabin bi-plane which he flies to air shows and fly-ins over the summer.

The meeting is scheduled for noon on May 20 in the Grand Ballroom of the Capital City Club, 7 Harris St., downtown Atlanta. The cost is $30 for members and $40 for non-members and includes lunch. A networking hour begins at 11 am. Reservations can be made by calling 800-878-7555 or email [email protected]. For more information: AtlantaAeroClub.org.
