With just a few days until Sporty’s Sweepstakes drawing, Sporty’s 2010 Sweepstakes airplane, a brand-new Cessna Skycatcher, is in Batavia, having been polished and prepared for its lucky new owner. Sporty’s took delivery of this Skycatcher serial number 5 last week. It is one of the first of a Cessna’s Light Sport Aircraft (LSA).
“Somewhere in the world, there’s a Sporty’s customer who doesn’t know his or her luck is about to change,” said Sporty’s President Michael Wolf. “The Sweepstakes drawing is on Saturday, May 15, at our annual Fly-In, which we follow with an immediate telephone call to the winner in front of an envious group of pilots.
“One of my favorite tasks during the year is to telephone our Sweepstakes winner,” says Wolf. “Reactions range from silence to thinking it’s a prank call from a buddy to emitting a string of… let’s just call it colorful language.”
According to Wolf, Sporty’s Pilot Shop chose the Skycatcher for its 2010 Sweepstakes because it is “a fun airplane that any pilot can fly.” This Skycatcher’s dual-screen Garmin G300 avionics package makes the panel state of the art.
This brand-new Skycatcher will mark the 28th aircraft awarded in Sporty’s annual Sweepstakes.
