Museum slates Open Cockpit Day

By Janice Wood · June 16, 2010 ·

The first Open Cockpit Day for this summer at the Oakland Aviation Museum at the Historic North Field at Oakland International Airport (OAK) in California is slated for Sunday, June 20. Attendees will get a chance to sit inside a Korean War MiG-15, several U.S. military jets from the A-3 to A-7, and see the A-6 simulator, while the Solent flying boat will be open for self-guided tours at no additional cost.

This year, the museum will also be “running up” one of its aircraft. Be part of the ground crew and help with the “pre-flight check.”

The event begins at noon and runs until 4 p.m. For more information: OaklandAviationMuseum.org.
