It’s hip to be square

By Janice Wood · July 6, 2010 ·

ASA has introduced a new, square chart plotter.

Constructed of Lexan, the plotter won’t melt, warp or break in extreme temperatures, according to ASA officials. At 5-1/8-inches square, it’s similar in size to a small note pad and will fit just about anywhere along with charts and other flying gear. Pilot-friendly features include 5 and 10 nm radius rings and 2 nm grid for accurate measurements and alignment. The no-nonsense design allows pilots to define a route of flight and determine true course for each leg by reading the value directly off the outer compass rose. The plotter uses a 1:500,000 scale and is guaranteed for life. Price: $6.95.
