‘Barefoot Bandit’ charges unsealed

By Janice Wood · July 8, 2010 ·

A federal judge in Seattle has unsealed the charges against “Barefoot Bandit” Colton Harris-Moore, according to a blog at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer website.

The teen, who has made his way to national notoriety through a string of burglaries and thefts, stands accused of stealing a plane in Idaho and crash landing it near Granite Falls. The 19-year-old teen’s continued exploits have frustrated authorities, who’ve come up empty since Harris-Moore escaped from a Renton group home in April 2008. In the federal charges, prosecutors accuse Harris-Moore flying a stolen Cessna across state lines. He’s suspected in 65 break-ins and thefts, and is now thought to have crossed the country and arrived — via another stolen airplane — in the Bahamas.
