14-day private pilot courses launch

By Janice Wood · August 29, 2010 ·

AFIT has launched 14-day Accelerated Private Pilot License Training at its Concord, California, and Boulder, Colorado, facilities.

Flight training provided at the Concord facility is taught by a certified GOLD SEAL flight instructor, CFI, CFII, MEI, IGI and AGI with a 100% Pass Rate, according to company officials. Flight training at the Boulder facility is taught by AFIT’s Chief Flight Instructor, an aviation professional for more than 37 years, who is an ATP, CFI, CFII and MEI with more than 7,500 hours of dual given, also with a 100% pass rate.

All training is conducted in a one-on-one training environment. Students can be certified in as little as two weeks, according to company officials.

I began a two week program with another school in Florida and it didn’t turn out to be what I had expected. I stopped training after 3 days and went with another school that offered a 14 day program. It was precise and professional. I was trained in a late model DA-20 with G430 unlike the old C152 with steam gauges, etc. I trained (with an instructor who has over 20K hours and does this for a living) about 9 hours a day and each day I progressed quite nicely and on day 14 I passed my check ride with what I learned afterward was with a tuff and often times difficult examiner.

My colloege buddy has been trying to attain his PPL for 4 months now and has over 90 hours and has just begun to Solo. The flight school has changed instructors 3 times and had him training in a sr-20. ???

My only guess is the school is suffering from the economy and cannot keep good instructors, and the students they have are training in aircrfaft that should not be utilized for PPL training.

My guess is they are trying to keep the airplane on-line but without any renters they are forced to use it for training in order not to lose it..

My experience with the accelerated 14 day (second school) was a great experience and compared to my college buddy who is still struggling trying to attain his PPL, I feel quite fortunate.

I am scheduled for a 10 day IFR training course November 8th and cannot wait.

Accelerated work very well for me and saved me a great deal of money compared to my buddy who is still struggling…

Oh, and by the way… I’m am not a terrorist, I am surgeon and I do not smuggle drugs…..

Congratulations, you have developed the perfect training program for drug smugglers and terrorists. Is this sanctioned by OHS? I’m blown away by the fact that any CFI worth his salt would put his ticket(s) on the line for such an insane program.
