Marvel-Schebler name returns for carburetors

By Janice Wood · September 1, 2010 ·

The Marvel-Schebler name is back where it belongs. Manufacturing operations of the aircraft carburetors and factory original replacement parts will be conducted under the company name Marvel-Schebler Aircraft Carburetors LLC, while marketing efforts remain under the TEMPEST brand.

The Marvel-Schebler trademark has long been recognized as the premier design of aviation carburetors since the 1930s, according to TEMPEST officials. Over many decades of continuous production, Marvel-Schebler carburetors have been manufactured by a number of companies that operated under different names: Volare, Precision Airmotive, Facet, and Borg-Warner. “Regardless, the products have always been known to the industry as Marvel-Schebler carburetors,” officials note.

TEMPEST also has a new line of aviation spark plugs. Formally known as the AutoLite/Unison spark plug, Aero Accessories purchased the line in March and moved the manufacturing equipment to Gibsonville, N.C. It has received FAA/PMA approvals on the standard massive electrode, fine wires and BY plugs.

TEMPEST offers a line of OEM carburetors and fuel pumps, oil and pneumatic filtration products, ignition components including spark plugs, and specialty tools. The manufacturing facilities are located in Gibsonville, N.C., with sales and marketing offices located in Greenville, S.C., and Atlanta.
