Haunted hangar tours and more at Fantasy of Flight

By Janice Wood · September 27, 2010 ·

While vintage planes like the B-17 and Grumman Duck typically take center stage at Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida, it’s the long-lost pilots whose stories will be showcased in two events next month.

For those interested in a “scary-lite” experience, daily Haunted Hangar Walking Tours offer Halloween fun for guests of all ages. Participants will tour the attraction’s hangars as their “ghoulie” guide shares little-known aviation tales and unsolved mysteries — from the famous Lost Squadron to Lindbergh’s spectral companions. The half-hour tours are offered daily Oct. 1-31 at 1 p.m. and are included free with the price of general admission.

The Spirit of St. Louis is featured in the nightFlight Event

For those who take their Halloween experience more seriously, there is the nightFlight Paranormal Investigation and Tour. Introduced for the first time earlier this year to sold-out audiences, the four-hour, limited-attendance nighttime tours are guided by Florida’s Apollo Paranormal Investigations (API), a non-profit team of paranormal investigators (sometimes referred to as “ghost hunters”). nightFlight is offered Saturday, Oct. 16, and Saturday, Oct. 30. The tours run from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. and are $75 plus tax, per guest. Reservations are required.

“We hope that between these two events, guests enjoy their choice of either a fun Halloween experience or one that may send a chill up their spines,” said Kim Long, general manager. “Those attending either event will learn about our vintage planes, while also learning about the paranormal energies throughout the attraction that seem to love the world of aviation, just as much as our guests.”

    Come on Kermit
You can do better than that……
Disney and Mickey are just down the road………leave the clowns and gargoyles to them and stick with what you do best AIRPLANES.
We are trying to encourage GENERAL AVIATION to the next generation not ghost hunting.
I am the founder and director of a mentoring program for at risk youth using my planes and aviation to spark their interest and i certainly dont want to risk them farther.
Sadly to say when i was there last year ( And i live 20 minutes from you) i decided when i saw your ghost hunting episodes to take and send people to other venues of aviation to spark their interest in aviation.
    Have a good day
