Conditional Use Permit granted for Waypoint

By Janice Wood · October 24, 2010 ·

The Bayfield County Planning & Zoning Committee in Wisconsin approved the request for a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) filed by CFS, LLC (CFS) for a private airport at Waypoint Oct. 21, paving the way for a new airpark.

In their 4-0 vote, Planning & Zoning indicated approval was granted based on current zoning, permit considerations in 12 criteria, and the Town of Russell Board’s 4-0 recommendation for approval made earlier.

The approval paves the way for CFS to pursue the construction of a private airport and up to 20 60×60 hangars at Waypoint in the Town of Russell. CFS will continue to work with governing authorities to obtain final approvals and all necessary permits prior to airport construction, officials said. The airport has already received a positive Final Determination of Landing Area by the FAA, along with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Certificate of Airport Site Approval.

The airport is part of a master site plan for Waypoint, a residential community.
