Mid-Continent Instruments is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its West Coast facility at Van Nuys Airport (VNY) in Southern California. The full-service repair station, including overhaul, repair, exchange and distribution, has been located at the VNY for two decades, expanding from its beginnings in a 500-square-foot building to its current 15,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility.
The West Coast location allows the company to service Pacific Rim customers, as well as offering extended hours to its international and United States customers in later time zones. With the same integrated customer databases as its Midwest counterpart, Mid-Continent Instruments-West offers full-class repair services for instruments, accessories and avionics. It is FAA- and EASA-certified and has been a longstanding member of the Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) and National Business Aviation Association (NBAA).
Mid-Continent Instruments-West officials say they attribute much of the company’s long-term success to its staff and strong relationships with customers. Matt Fowle, the company’s Western regional director, was instrumental in the design and development of the West Coast facility in 1991, and several employees have been with the company for more than a decade.
“We have built a large team of experienced technicians,” said Fowle. “We have an extensive inventory in California that we ship worldwide. But what it comes down to is supporting our customers. No matter where they are, they know that they can get exactly what they need exactly when they need it — with very little downtime — which helps their businesses grow.”
