Did you know that Steve McQueen was a pilot who flew antique planes? That and more is revealed in a new biography on the star, “Steve McQueen: The Life and Legend of a Hollywood Icon,” by Marshall Terrill.
Featuring hundreds of interviews and research, Terrill reveals new details about the star’s life from his childhood, throughout his career, to the final days of his battle with cancer.
The book includes a first-time interview with Teri McQueen, the actor’s 70-year-old half-sister who is breaking her silence about her famous sibling; a behind-the-scenes look at McQueen’s classic films such as The Great Escape, The Sand Pebbles, The Thomas Crown Affair, Bullitt, Le Mans, The Getaway, Papillon and The Towering Inferno; and more.

Steve McQueen was beyond the traditional actor humanity blueprint. It fits that he was also a pilot with an interest in vintage aircraft. This information cause me to think of the Indiana Jones actor who is similar in that he doesn’t fit in the standard actor psychological parameters.
