RV-12 DVD debuts

By Janice Wood · December 5, 2010 ·

HomebuiltHELP has introduced a new video DVD series that provides a step-by-step building demonstration of the Van’s Aircraft RV-12 kit.

“Building your Van’s RV-12 Empennage/Tailcone” is the title of the first in a series of DVD presentations that will aid the kit builder in the construction of Vans’ popular light sport aircraft kit, company officials said. Each title in the new series tracks the corresponding sub kit as delivered from Van’s. These videos are designed to show each step of construction of the RV-12, following the manufacturer’s instruction manual. Tools required in the kit construction are explained and demonstrated. DVD titles for the remaining RV-12 sub kits will be available soon.

HomebuiltHELP has been producing DVD videos for builders of experimental aircraft for the last six years with the goal of making building easier and faster by way of watching an instructor perform the assembly process. Viewers of these videos report that the construction process is significantly shortened by allowing the builder to visualize assembly sequences and procedures that are not available from plans alone, company officials said. In addition to providing a library of video titles for popular kit aircraft models, DVDs are available for specific topics of interest to aircraft homebuilders, such as glass panel construction, scratch metalworking, and engine installation.
