Making its debut is Sporty’s Cockpit Video System, which makes it easy to post a video to YouTube or Facebook or share it with friends. The video system is also use for flight instructors and their students, said Sporty’s Vice President John Zimmerman. “A post-lesson debriefing can become so much more valuable when flight students can have an instant replay of what was done correctly – or needs improvement.”
The Cockpit Video System is easy to use. Just slide the single button forward to start recording in full HD video (1080p at 30 fps or 720p at 60 fps). A custom headset interface allows you to record all of your communications, including intercom and radio.
The new GPS-enabled Cockpit Video System uses a built-in GPS receiver to log your exact location as it records video. With the included software, you can play back your video alongside speed, altitude and even your position overlaid on a Google Earth map.
Both cameras have a rotating lens and laser alignment system so you can mount the camera at any angle, without distorting the video. The 135° lens can capture the entire cockpit, including pilots, instrument panel and the forward view.
The package features Easy Edit software. Each system also includes an adhesive mount, three-hour battery, microphone jack, 2GB micro SD card and USB cable. It weighs just 4.3 oz.
The Cockpit Video System is available for $399. and the Cockpit Video System with GPS is available for $499.
