NexAir offers year-end specials

By Janice Wood · December 22, 2010 ·

NexAir Avionics is offering year-end special package pricing on its DFC90 Autopilot and WAAS GPS upgrade for owners of Avidyne Entegra-equipped Cirrus aircraft.

The upgrade includes Avidyne’s new DFC90 Digital Autopilot, an Entegra PFD hardware and Release 8 software upgrade, two new WAAS-capable Garmin GNS430Ws with WAAS antennas, and NexAir’s Concierge Service providing free pickup and delivery of the customer’s airplane. Price for this package is $20,000 including installation and Concierge Service, and must be ordered through NexAir by Dec. 31.

“We have built our business here at NexAir on leveraging our knowledge as engineers and pilots to integrate avionics into aircraft in a way that optimizes performance, value, and ease-of-use,” said David Fetherston, president of NexAir. “WAAS has proven to be incredibly valuable for its accuracy and for making more airports accessible to general aviation pilots, and the DFC90 has set a new standard for safety and performance.”

Avidyne’s DFC90 is an attitude-based digital autopilot system that provides several major feature and performance improvements over previous-generation systems including Avidyne’s “Flight Envelope Protection” and a “Straight & Level” button. The DFC90 provides greatly-improved flight stability and tracking capability due to the use of Entegra system’s Air Data & Attitude Heading Reference System (ADAHRS). This is particularly evident and important when intercepting and tracking an ILS to minimums in windy conditions, company officials said. Flight Envelope Protection is designed to guard against autopilot-induced stalls and over-speed situations, and the “Straight & Level” button overrides all autopilot modes and levels the aircraft in both pitch and roll from a wide range of capture attitudes for an added measure of safety.

WAAS is the new Wide-Area Augmentation System, which enables aircraft to rely on signals from Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites and ground stations for that provide GPS signal corrections, providing much greater navigation accuracy during all phases of flight, including precision approaches to any airport within its coverage area.

Based at Mansfield Municipal Airport (1B9) near Boston, NexAir Avionics is a full- service avionics and aircraft shop that installs and services digital flight systems for general aviation aircraft. For more information: NexAirAvionics.com
