Carter’s PAV takes flight

By Janice Wood · January 27, 2011 ·

Carter Aviation Technologies President Jay Carter has a vision of a world where people fly around in small, car-sized autogyro-airplane hybrids that can take off and land without a runway. According to a story in the Times Record News of Wichita Falls, Texas, the idea may have seemed like fantasy some 16 years ago when he started working on developing it, but a recent demonstration of the Carter 4-Place PAV (Personal Air Vehicle) Prototype at Olnery Airport may have proved that it is close to becoming reality. And there’s another thing: Carter says with the onboard computer, the PAV “basically flies itself.” Read more about it here.
