New FBO operator at EXX

By Janice Wood · March 20, 2011 ·

Fly High Lexington, a new FBO operator at Davidson County Airport (EXX) in Lexington, N.C., now features guaranteed fuel pricing on Fltplan.com, a discount for Sun ‘n Fun pilots, and a free shuttle to Lexington Style Barbecue.

Pilot traveling to and from Lakeland, Fla., for the 37th Annual Sun n’ Fun will receive a discount of 10 cents a gallon on fuel purchases, according to FBO officials.

And because Lexington is famous for Lexington Style Barbecue, the FBO is also offering a free shuttle to Backcountry Barbecue.

“With oil prices being so unpredictable lately we felt it was a good way to let the aviation community know that we are here as a new FBO operator at a fantastic airport facility in a central location” says Karel Van Der Linden, owner.

Fly High Lexington serves as FBO and airport manager for EXX. The full service operation includes pilot facilities, catering, crew car, conference room, corporate hangars, maintenance and a flight school. Davidson County Airport features a newly installed precision instrument landing system, a 5,000 foot runway, 50 T-hangars, sixcorporate hangars, a 12,000-square-foot heated community hangar, and a 12,000-square-foot maintenance hangar. The airport is located in the Piedmont Region of North Carolina and is directly adjacent to Interstate 85, Highway 52 and Business 85.

Backcountry is good food; not great. When one thinks of Lexington style BBQ, Lexington BBQ and Speedys are much better choices. Backcountry was probably chosen due its proximety to the airport.
