Never pay for charts or plates again

By Janice Wood · March 29, 2011 ·

Seattle Avionics offers show special

Some SUN ’n FUN attendees will get a special deal from Seattle Avionics Software this week: The SkyPad2 Slate Tablet EFB, which comes with a free Lifetime EFB ChartData subscription (normally $829 by itself) for no additional charge — but just for the first 100 SkyPad EFB sales.

The SkyPad2 is a complete Electronic Flight Bag moving map solution featuring a multi-touch 10-inch screen slate tablet PC running a flight-optimized version of Windows 7, a WAAS-enabled Bluetooth GPS, and the award-winning Voyager Flight Software System, company officials explained. The exclusive pre-installed SkyPad Controller makes using a tablet PC in-flight much easier, and also includes a complete set of geo-referenced IFR and VFR charts, plates, and airport diagrams for all 50 states, according to company officials. Since it runs Windows 7, the SkyPad works with all Windows applications – like Microsoft Office – and has two USB ports, an SD card slot, and accepts real-time, in-flight weather from any WxWorx XM receiver.

“Our SkyPad2 EFB has been an incredible seller since the day it was introduced,” said John Rutter, president. “As our sales volume has grown, we’ve been able to lower our costs, enabling us to make this incredible limited offer to SUN ’n FUN attendees. Customers constantly tell us they’re sick of annual fees — imagine never paying for charts or plates again!

“To me, an EFB is only as good as the data that goes into it and the SkyPad2 includes essentially the same FAA-certified ChartData that we produce for the FAA-certified Aspen Evolution system. This makes me much more comfortable when I fly with my family,” Rutter continued.
