PilotMall.com debuts new stowbar

By Janice Wood · April 4, 2011 ·

PilotMall.com, Inc. has released a new Stowbar line of aircraft towbars.

The Stowbar Light Sport and Stowbar General Aviation Aircraft Towbars, both PilotMall.com exclusive equipment, are manufactured out of aircraft grade 6061 aluminum, according to company officials. Both of the units are just a total of 20.5″ in length when stowed. The Light Sport Aircraft Stowbar extends fully to 39 inches, while the General Aviation model goes one step further, with a partial extension of 39 inches and a full extension of 57 inches. The Light Sport model weighs in at less than 2 pounds, and the slightly heavier General Aviation model weighs less than 4 pounds.

Both of the Stowbar units fit easily in any cockpit while sacrificing minimal storage space, and they are simple to open, carry, and use, according to company officials. The Light Sport model will tow small aircraft weighing up to 1,350 pounds, while the General Aviation Stowbar can tow larger aircraft of up to 5,000 pounds. Patents are pending on both of these unique new pieces of equipment.

The two Stowbar models start at prices less than $200. The units are compatible with a wide range of aircraft including Cessna singles, twins, Bonanza, Cirrus, Piper, and Mooney Aircraft. Personalization of the Stowbar units with aircraft tail numbers is available for an additional fee of  $35.
