Michelin inks deal with Rob Holland

By Janice Wood · May 9, 2011 ·

Michelin Aircraft Tires has signed a sponsorship agreement with aerobatics expert pilot Rob Holland. Holland, the 2008 World Advanced Aerobatic Champion, will feature Michelin Air tires on his plane at the 2011 World Aerobatics Championships, as well as showcase his plane for Michelin at a number of air shows in 2011.

“Rob is known across the aviation industry as a top performer in his area,” said Leah Feig, head of the North American general aviation team for Michelin Aircraft Tires. “It makes perfect sense for Michelin as a top aircraft tire manufacturer to partner with Rob and demonstrate our tire performance and reliability on his MX2 plane.”

Rob-Holland-Michelin Holland recently earned a spot on the U.S. Aerobatics team by finishing third overall in the Unlimited Aerobatic Competition and second in the Unlimited Team Selection at the U.S. National Aerobatics Championships. Holland will represent the U.S. at the 2011 World Aerobatics Championships.

Flying for more than 18 years, Holland has logged more than 10,000 hours while flying more than 162 different types of planes. He will also be showcasing his plane for Michelin at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh on July 25-31 in Oshkosh, and at the AOPA Aviation Summit in Hartford, Conn., Sept. 22-24.

Michelin designs, manufactures and sells tires for every type of vehicle, including airplanes, automobiles, bicycles, earthmovers, farm equipment, heavy-duty trucks, motorcycles and the space shuttle. The company also publishes travel guides, hotel and restaurant guides, maps and road atlases. Headquartered in Greenville, S.C., Michelin North America employs 21,400 and operates 18 major manufacturing plants in 16 locations.
