Wathen Foundation receives $541,000

By Janice Wood · May 9, 2011 ·

The Thomas W. Wathen Foundation has received three donations, totaling $541,000. The gifts, in amounts of $1,000, $40,000 and $500,000, were made to sustain existing programs and help launch a number of new programs that will provide educational and training experiences while advancing the cause of general aviation.

“The foundation is extremely grateful for the generous support it has received,” said Bill Sawin, Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer. “We have launched an aggressive program to secure funding for the foundation’s school programs at Flabob Airport, our student airplane restoration projects, Air Academies and outreach programs for grade schools. At the same time, we are poised to launch several major activities that will have a significant impact on aviation education on a national basis. Contributions of any caliber are profoundly appreciated.”
