Oshkosh runway walk to benefit community groups

By Janice Wood · May 19, 2011 ·

Running enthusiasts can navigate an aircraft-lined course by competing in the fifth annual EAA Runway 5K, scheduled for Saturday, July 30, at 7 a.m. during AirVenture 2011 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh.

The 3.1-mile run/walk through the convention grounds will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh, YMCA Strong Kids Fund, and Cerebral Palsy of Mideast Wisconsin.

The first 1,000 to register will receive a special event T-shirt. All participants receive snacks, water, and a timing-chip to track their progress, plus Saturday admission to AirVenture – featuring the Night Air Show and Daher-Socata Fireworks, country star Aaron Tippin in concert, and an expanded afternoon air show highlighted by the “Warbirds Extravaganza.”

Participants can pre-register now through Friday, July 29, for $25 at www.airventure.org/run, by calling 800-236-1025, or at the EAA Welcome Center during AirVenture. Registration on the day of the event is $35, and those with an AirVenture wristband valid for July 30 receive a $5 discount.
