NationAir adds two partners for risk management services

By Janice Wood · May 22, 2011 ·

NationAir Aviation Insurance has added two safety specialist partners, Air Safety Dynamics and Crisis Advisors, to its portfolio of advisors, providing NationAir clients with expertise in safety management systems and emergency response programs.

“These two issues are becoming increasingly important to the general aviation community,” said Jeffrey Bauer, NationAir president. “We want to ensure that our clients have easy access to high quality professionals as they work to stay ahead of the curve in safety planning.”

Air Safety Dynamics provides IS-BAO audits and safety management system (SMS) development and is led by accredited IS-BAO auditor Rob Little. A former Air Force and commercial pilot, Little has been involved in aviation safety for more than 30 years. While SMS is not yet required in the United States, general aviation aircraft landing in some overseas areas must now meet SMS standards.

“As the international standard for flight safety, IS-BAO is on its way to becoming a significant part of both flight safety culture and a favored program for preferred ratings with major underwriters,” Bauer said. “The standard also improves insurability, raises the profile of safety cultures and practices, and reinforces professional standards.”

Crisis Advisors, led by Jason Kelly, provides planning and training for emergency response systems. Kelly, a former director of emergency management for a major airline, is an acknowledged industry expert in emergency response, having successfully directed teams of hundreds of people during several commercial airline accidents and crises. Among the services Crisis Advisors offers are emergency response and family assistance plans, drills and training for managers, front line and command center staff; gap analysis; media response; and on-scene advice and safety investigation training. Long mandated for commercial airlines, family assistance plans are not yet required but still vital in the general aviation industry, especially for charter operations that carry high-profile clients, Bauer noted.

NationAir clients will receive preferred pricing from Air Safety Dynamics and Crisis Advisors, NationAir’s Bauer said. These partnerships reaffirm NationAir’s commitment to providing a full spectrum of risk management services to its clients. Along with SMS and emergency response planning, NationAir also provides clients preferred rates from aviation law specialists, along with contract review and claims advisor assistance as part of NationAir’s standard client services.

One of the nation’s oldest and largest aviation insurance brokers, NationAir is headquartered in suburban Chicago, with offices at regional airports throughout the country. From large ground operations and corporate flight departments to specialty aircraft and owner-flown planes, NationAir insures more than $40 billion in all types of aviation assets.
