Hamilton returns later this month as the official timekeeper at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, as well as hosting the outdoor fly-in movie theater. Hamilton’s newest aviation partner, Christine “CC” Gerner, an aerobatic pilot with years of airshow performances, will perform on July 26 in her Hamilton-branded Edge 540 plane.
Hamilton will also be an exhibitor at the event, showcasing its line of precision-crafted pilot watches, with a special preview of the new Khaki Flight Timer, which hits stores in early 2012, as well as the new Khaki UTC, which hits stores in August. Inspiration for the new Hamilton Khaki UTC came from the pages of the company’s own history books, according to company officials.
In the 1940s, Hamilton Watch Company was proud to be supplying sophisticated navigational instruments, in the form of marine chronometers. The Hamilton Khaki UTC pays a direct tribute to the Hamilton chronometers that integrated sidereal time. Sidereal time measured time relative to the motion of the stars around the earth, as opposed to that of the sun. The Khaki UTC with GMT functionality uses contemporary design and current airport abbreviations to celebrate the heritage and spirit of navigational timekeeping.
