#OSH11: Flyvie unveils next-gen flight recording; removes prop from videos

By Janice Wood · July 28, 2011 ·

Flyvie Inc., a developer and manufacturer of video capturing and debriefing systems for the aviation industry, has introduced the Flyvie next generation multi video flight recording and debriefing solution designed to enhance the general aviation training experience.

The flight recorder, Flyvie 2160 Pro, enables two 1080P, best in class cameras, along with GPS, accelerometers, cockpit audio, in-flight tags and other aircraft data to be captured in sync on a SD card for immediate debrief on the ground. The new system has both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities that will be used interactively with tablets and smartphones. Flyvie is accepting orders for the new units with delivery in fall 2011.

Flyvie also unveiled a cloud service for “prop filtering” which will enable Flyvie members to remove the propeller artifacts in videos taken looking out through single engine propeller planes. A demo of the results for the free Flyvie iPhone app and the Flyvie 2160 can be seen here (Short clip comparing prop filtered vs. raw video ). The SW algorithm will be built into the Flyvie 2160 Pro recorder and will also be available as a service for post flight processing starting Sep. 1 for all users.
