#OSH11: Rotax delivers 40,000th engine

By Janice Wood · July 31, 2011 ·

Rotax Aircraft Engines celebrated the sale of its 40,000th four-stroke engine at AirVenture.

More than 24 million hours have been logged on Rotax-equipped planes, according to company officials, who note that the company is also celebrating the 15th anniversary of the turbocharged 914 series.

“Ongoing improvements in our engine design allowed raising the TBO of the 912 family to 2,000 hours in 2009, followed by the 914 in 2010,” officials said.

Rotax officials note that all the company’s engines are approved for use with Ethanol E10 fuel and lead-free mogas, as well as 100LL.
