#OSH11: Fly a (really little) Icon

By Janice Wood · August 1, 2011 ·

Icon Aircraft and Horizon Hobby have partnered to introduce a line of radio-control models of the Icon A5.

The launch model, sold under Horizon’s ParkZone brand, was available for pre-ordering at AirVenture and will begin shipping in September.

The model has a 52.5″ wingspan and removable landing gear so that it can operate amphibiously like the full-scale A5, according to company officials. The model features Icon’s recently introduced limited-edition Icon 100 paint scheme.

The model is available in two versions: A plug and play model that needs a transmitter, receiver, battery and charger, for $199.99; or a bind and fly that just needs the transmitter for $279.99. Both packages are available on Icon’s website.

The Icon A5 will also be available in Horizon’s Phoenix RC simulator software, company officials said.
