Aug. 1 marked the first anniversary of Fly High Lexington at the Davidson County Airport (EXX) in Lexington, N.C. The past year has seen an increase in fuel sales of 48% at the airport compared to the previous year.
“We knew coming in that the airport had potential for growth and we are excited to see those results so soon,” said Karel Van Der Linden, Owner and Director of Fly High Lexington.
The company achieved this increase through a variety of methods, including attracting new tenants for the airport and increasing transient Jet A and avgas customers, according to company officials.
Service and facility improvements were also made, including longer operational hours, expansion of the flight school, and the addition of a maintenance department under the leadership of the Director of Maintenance Edward Holland. The FBO also launched a new website and Facebook campaign. From Dec. 12, 2010, to July 31, 2011, the website received 3,500 visits from 709 cities and 38 countries.
Moving into its second year the FBO plans to focus its efforts on securing new tenants for its corporate hangars and growing the airport’s transient business even further, officials said.
