Air Vehicle Integration, Inc. has received a grant from the Wolf Aviation Fund to research the potential to use marinas for amphibious aircraft operations.
AVII is an aircraft design thru lean manufacturing consulting company in Oakland County, Mich., that has been involved with seaworthy aircraft. Company officials have been on the design teams that developed the unmanned seaworthy SeaScout air vehicle, which was the first in history to land autonomously on the water, and the amphibious Icon Aircraft A5 light sport aircraft.
“Rooted in Michigan, the state with the most coastlines, we have worked on new developments in aviation on air vehicles that land on the water,” states Perry DiClemente, president of Air Vehicle Integration, Inc. “The next generation seaworthy aircraft could connect our infrastructure more efficiently utilizing the vast amount of water operation areas throughout the world getting us faster to our destination or even into remote areas.”
The grant will fund: Marinas for Amphibian Aircraft Usage: An investigative report on the potential for the integration of next generation GA amphibian aircraft to operate within the infrastructure of the national marina system that can potentially result in the generation of a significant new segment of business within the boating industry and the aircraft industry.
