Just published is “Flying Tales,” by Larry Van Pelt (Colonel, USAF retired), which chronicles his experiences over the years as a fighter pilot, combat pilot, test pilot and general aviator in many different aircraft types.
“My grandchildren asked me to please put these ‘tales’ down on paper, so I started writing one ‘flying tale’ per week,” explains Van Pelt. “Before I knew it, I had 100 and many suggested I compile them into book form.”
“Flying Tales” is the result, he said. “Combat flying and test piloting episodes abound — along with some routine flights that turned ominous,” he said.
