Lights, camera, action

By Janice Wood · September 12, 2011 ·

The NFlightcam GPS Plus cockpit video camera is now available exclusively from Sporty’s. The camera, which makes it easy to record your aviation adventures, has been been enhanced with new features to make it even easier to use, according to Sporty’s officials.

Now enhanced with a wide-angle, 170° lens, you can capture more of your flight and with no prop blur. Unlike most other cameras, with the NFlightcam, you can shoot straight out the front windshield with no distortion. An external microphone and headset jack means you can record your communications or ambient cockpit noise, and the cord is removable. Once home, HDMI out makes it possible to instantly watch your video on your big screen television.

“Flight instructors will find these videos a simple way to review maneuvers, along with cockpit audio, during a post-flight briefing,” said John Zimmerman, Sporty’s vice president.

The NFlightcam Video System works with a one-button operation to record full HD video (1080p at 30 fps or 720p at 60 fps). The GPS logs your exact location as it records so you can play back your video alongside speed, altitude and position on Google Earth maps. “You can control the camera from your iPhone or Android when you download a free app,” says Zimmerman. “You can even mount it externally and use your phone as a viewfinder.”

The NFlightcam GPS Plus Cockpit Video Camera is available for $599.
