Holland takes unlimited gold at national and world levels

By Janice Wood · October 17, 2011 ·

Despite only a few days of practice in his new aerobatic aircraft, the MXS-RH, Rob Holland brought home Gold in the 4-Minute Freestyle competition, besting 53 other competitors and finishing 8th in the Unlimited category at the 2011 World Aerobatic Championships in Foligno Italy, Aug. 31- Sept. 11.

“Considering the amount of world talent at this event, I was very excited to be in the hunt for gold let alone win the Freestyle,” says Holland. “My experience in winning gold in the Advanced category in 2008 helped me keep a positive attitude through out the event.”

Rob Holland Just a few weeks later, Holland returned home with a plane load of confidence, which no doubt helped him take Unlimited gold at the US National Aerobatic Championships held in Sherman Texas Sept. 25-30 in not only the Freestyle but also the Unlimited category, making him the new 2011 US Aerobatic Champion.

“My new plane was certainly a factor in my wins, I just can’t wait to get some time to practice in it,” says Holland with all seriousness.
