Air Zoo program lets kids explore birds

By Janice Wood · October 19, 2011 ·

On Saturday, Oct. 22, visitors to the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo, Mich., will have the chance to learn all about birds and how they fly at this month’s Super Science Saturday: Natural Flyers.

Each 30-minute presentation (at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.) will feature fun facts about these high-flying creatures. Kids will have a chance to visit with a menagerie of birds and learn how their feathers are used for different types of flight, along with how humans observe birds to better learn about flight. They’ll also be able to create their very own “bird kite” to take home.

Super Science Saturdays are held at the Air Zoo once a month and are included in the price of general admission. They are geared for children of all ages (and their parents), but are targeted specifically toward upper elementary and middle school students.
