An in-depth “Introduction to Aviation” is being offered in the Aviation Resource Lab. Aviation enthusiasts, young and old alike, will be able to learn just what’s behind that dreamed-of first flight. Local volunteer pilots and Air Traffic Controllers from Fort Polk ATC will walk participants through a series of hands-on demonstrations, including flight planning, weather briefing, navigation and aircraft preflight. Participants will also have the opportunity to control the skies with an Air Traffic Control experience via a NASA Smart Skies simulation and to “log” flight time in a flight simulator. Upon completion of this Intro to Aviation, information about future aviation projects/programs will be made available.
Many great items, including three airplane rides, have been donated to the Silent Auction Fund Raiser.
This is also the last of the Louisiana Fly-in Series for this year.
