New documentary available Veterans Day

By Janice Wood · November 6, 2011 ·

The creators of the Emmy-Award winning PBS hit “Red Tail Reborn” have now created a new aviation program, “The Restorers-They Were All Volunteers.” The new film will be available this Veterans Day, Nov. 11, on DVD and BluRay.

Each year the famous Doolittle Tokyo Raiders have a reunion to remember their mission, their comrades, and their heroic leader Gen. James Doolittle. In 2010, an extraordinary event took place. For the 68th Doolittle reunion, 17 B-25 bomber crews volunteered to gather in honor of the Raiders. More than 70,000 people turned up to witness the event, see the bombers, and meet the Raiders.

“The Restorers-They Were All Volunteers” follows the journey of a Minnesota B-25 named “Miss Mitchell” as she travels to Dayton, Ohio to attend the largest B-25 gathering since World War II. If you missed the event, now you can experience this moment in time, honoring our heroes and remembering our history.

This documentary is part of a larger series, designed for release on broadcast television. While shooting of additional episodes has begun, the producers say they are also seeking investors to help bring the series to life.
