Kosola and Associates, Inc., has developed an FAA-approved kit to repair and reinforce the air box assembly on the Piper PA44-180 Seminole.
Development of the Carburetor Air Box Modification Kit STC-PMA was in response to problems with the Piper PA44-180 Seminoles experiencing cracking of the air inlet/outlet duct attachment (see sketch), according to officials with the Albany, Ga.-based company.
Kits are now available for field modifications (installed with fasteners). The kit includes:
- Inlet and outlet plate and collar assemblies
- Rivets, screws and washers
- Instanation drawing
- Instructions for continued airworthiness and copy of STC
