SportairUSA names national sales director

By Janice Wood · November 13, 2011 ·

SportairUSA, the American distributor of Sting and Sirius sport aircraft, has named John Thomas National Sales Director.

Thomas brings with him broad experience in both sales and aviation. He started flying 27 years ago, finishing up his single engine rating before finishing college. Most of his flying time has been in Citabrias and Bonanzas, but he has been impressed by the explosion of innovation and growth in the sport aircraft market.

“I always knew that one day I would merge my passion for flying with the enjoyable challenges of sales,” Thomas said. “This is a unique time and opportunity.”

During the last three years, he has helped lead the sales team of Pratt & Whitney PT6-135A Turbine engines for SilverHawk Conversions, strengthening market share of one of only two STC holders in the large King Air/Turbine upgrade market. His earlier career has been with medical companies in sales, training and services. He has also owned several small businesses and has had success as a sales rep, sales manager, sales leader as VP of Sales.

SportairUSA also markets and distributes several sport aircraft, the Savage Cub, the iCub and Bobber by Zlin Aviation, the SeaRey amphibian by Progressive Aerodyne and the Snap! sport aerobat from Dallair USA. The company is located at the North Little Rock Municipal Airport (ORK) in Arkansas.
