Red Bull Air Races cancelled — again

By Janice Wood · November 14, 2011 ·

The Red Bull Air Race World Championships, the only other air race series in the world besides the Reno National Championship event, cancelled this year’s series in part over safety concerns, according to a recent report in the Reno Gazette-Journal, which notes that the Red Bull races aren’t expectedto be held next year either. The story quotes Red Bull spokeswoman Nadja Zele: “Currently a core team is working intensively to bring Red Bull Air Race back better than ever. There will be no races in 2012. A revamped concept and a fixed race calendar will be revealed in 2013.” Red Bull also didn’t hold races this year.
