PilotMall.com releases Android flight planning app

By Janice Wood · November 22, 2011 ·

PilotMall.com, Inc., providers of the iTunes app the Flight Computer, has released the Flight Computer Application for Android.

Using the Flight Computer saves hours of calculations, giving pilots the ability to quickly access the numbers needed to more efficiently plan their flight, according to company officials. Starting with four buttons, pilots can choose to convert measurements between Nautical, Metric or Statute, set a timer, access the calculator or supplement instrumentation via the “Flight Computer Functions” button. Measurement conversions include speed, weight, length and more.

Through this proprietary application, pilots have the option to use the features for preflight or in-air computations. Determine needed data regarding altitude, ground or air speed, heading, planned or actual legs, fuel burn, endurance or weight and balance, all with a just a few taps of the finger. Just input known planning variables and let the application do the rest. A change in wind speed, wind direction or heading can quickly be recalculated with just a finger swipe.

The Flight Computer for Android, which is offered for a limited time at $1.99, is available from the Android Market  Requirements include Android 2.1 and up.
