Fascinated by helicopters?

By Janice Wood · December 8, 2011 ·

Sporty’s has released a new app, “So You Want to Fly Helicopters” for iPad and iPhone.

The app contains over 90 minutes of 3D animations and in-flight video from the team at Sporty’s Academy. It also includes the complete FAA Rotorcraft Flying Handbook, the Helicopter Practical Test Standards, two advisory circulars and a 30-question review quiz.

“Whether you want to actually go on to earn your rotary rating or just want to understand helicopter flight, So You Want to Fly Helicopters is a great starting point,” says Sporty’s Vice President John Zimmerman, who is a licensed helicopter pilot.

Using a visual menu system, So You Want to Fly Helicopters is broken down into 14 individual video segments for quick review. You’ll experience firsthand the sights and sounds of a Robinson R22 and R44, Schweizer 269 and Bell 206 JetRanger. The quiz is referenced to the video segments. “The quiz will give you instant feedback on your score so you can review missed questions and review the video segment for more information on that topic,” adds Zimmerman.

The So You Want to Fly Helicopters App [#90008A] is available for $69.99.
