Students at Flabob to speak with astronauts

By Ben Sclair · March 7, 2012 ·

Jurupa Valley, CA – Middle and high school students at the Tom Wathen Center located on Historic Flabob Airport in Jurupa Valley (near Riverside) are preparing to talk to an astronaut aboard the International Space Station. The live question-and-answer session is scheduled for 10 minutes during the week of April 16, 2012. The contact, via amateur radio, will take place in the EAA Chapter One building on Flabob Airport and is open to the public free of charge.

This project is being organized by Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS), an international volunteer amateur radio organization.

This educational opportunity is coordinated by The Tom Wathen Center’s Kathy Rohm, FAPA teacher Gabrieal Baumert, and NASA volunteer area coordinator Clint Bradford.

To contact Kathy Rohm about the exact date/time of the event, call 951.683.0142.
