In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo, Mich., is hosting Women in Aerospace Day on Saturday, March 24, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Air Zoo guests will have the chance to learn about the accomplishments of women in aviation and space through hands-on activities throughout the day. From 1-2 p.m., the Air Zoo will offer a Rocket Clinic for guests to build and launch rockets (weather permitting). They’ll also be able to participate in a Paper Airplane Clinic and Soda Straw Rocket Workshop, sample astronaut ice cream, and make their own passport.
Important characters in the history of aerospace will be present to speak about their achievements. Guests will be able to meet and interact with characters portraying Amelia Earhart, Jackie Cochran, Sally Ride and many more!
A variety of women in the aviation profession will be on-hand to speak about their careers as well. Western Michigan University representatives will be available to talk to those who are interested in learning more about a degree in aviation.
The Rocket Clinic costs $10 per rocket. Preregistration for the Clinic is required by calling 269-350-2848. The remainder of Women in Aerospace Day activities are included in the price of general admission.
