Flight school earns honorary seal

By Janice Wood · March 26, 2012 ·

Calhoun Air Center at Calhoun County Airport in Texas has received the 2012 WOAW Certified Women Friendly Flight Training Facility seal by Women of Aviation Worldwide (WOAW). This is the second year the flight school has been awarded the seal.

Calhoun County Airport manager, Dianna Stanger, commented, “Calhoun Air Center is proud that Women of Aviation Worldwide has recognized the efforts at our airports. It is extremely gratifying to be recognized on a worldwide level.”

To receive a WOAW Certified Women Friendly Flight Training Facility seal, flight training facilities must meet the following criteria: Support community outreach programs towards girls and women and be actively involved in promoting aviation to women.

Mireille Goyer, Women of Aviation Worldwide’s founder, commented, “By becoming an active participant of Women Of Aviation Worldwide Week, Calhoun Air Center has shown its commitment to encouraging women to consider aviation as a hobby or a career. This is a very special seal that Calhoun Air Center earned through its positive actions.”

Calhoun Air Center is one of eight flight schools in the world to receive the award. The locations awarded the seal are flight training facilities known to seek and value female customers’ business.
