The Green River Chapter of the Washington Pilots Association is hosting a mystery pilot proficiency derby this Saturday, July 28, at Auburn Municipal Airport (S50) to benefit its scholarship program. Organizers promise great prizes, a WINGS program, and even a free dinner.
The Mystery Derby is limited to 30 aircraft.
The pilot proficiency derby round robin includes one to three hours flying with puzzles, plotting and pilotage all required to find 10 checkpoints. You’ll estimate time en route and fuel burn for a course of known length, followed by a spot landing.
Odds are great to win a new iPad or other great prize, organizers said. A catered dinner is included and proceeds benefit the WPA scholarship fund. An additional cash fuel discount has been offered if you purchase over 25 gallons.
There is also a great opportunity to achieve FAA WINGS credit by attending three seminars starting at 10 am.
