Jeppesen now offers digital eBooks textbooks and materials to supplement its training solutions for student pilots, flight schools, universities and current pilots. Available for download through the Apple iBookstore, Jeppesen’s Private Pilot Guided Flight Discovery manual and the A&P Technician General, Airframe and Powerplant textbooks and reference books are now offered on iPad.
Student pilots and users are now able to access the same training information as printed materials, with enhanced capabilities such as on-screen search, highlighting, hyper-linking, bookmarking, note taking and font size adjustment features, company officials said.
“Jeppesen training eBooks on iPad represents a dynamic and interactive environment that resonates with the learning style of today’s student pilots,” said Julie Filucci, senior manager, Jeppesen Aviation Training Solutions. “As we help to lead the paper-to-digital industry transformation, this initial offering is the first phase of our eBooks platform that we will continue to introduce to enhance the learning process for the next generation of pilots.”
Once downloaded, Jeppesen eBooks do not require an internet connection, so students are able to access the mobile, interactive eBooks features on iPad everywhere, including the classroom, in the lab or at the airport. Revisions and updates to Jeppesen eBooks training materials are also provided on a much quicker timeline, compared with traditional printed materials, company officials said.
Future plans for Jeppesen eBooks include availability on mobile devices powered by the Android operating system as well as on PC and Mac platforms. Additional functionality for Jeppesen eBooks is also planned with future versions, which will include embedded video, audio, animation and social media connection components, depending on device capabilities.
