Piper launches Seneca V demo tour

By Janice Wood · July 31, 2012 ·

Last week’s AirVenture was the launch site for a multi-state demonstration tour for the Piper Seneca V, a twin-engine turbocharged aircraft.

After displaying the new Seneca V at the show, the plane headed out on a six-state tour of the Midwest and Far West United States involving Piper’s aircraft dealer organization with stops at the Reno National Championship Air Races Air Races and Show and AOPA’s Aviation Summit.

First stop was Des Moines, Iowa, where the Seneca will be on display at Des Moines Flying Service through Aug. 6.

Stops in September include Kansas City Aviation Sales in Kansas City and the Reno Air Races in Reno, Nevada. In October, the tour will visit Western Aircraft at Boise, Idaho, as well as AOPA Aviation Summit in Palm Springs, Calif.

Standard equipped list price with dual Garmin G600 avionics suite is $935,000. The airplane is powered by two Continental Turbocharged TSIO-360-RB engines generating 220 hp each. Maximum payload is 1,082 pounds. Thousands of Piper Senecas are in operation worldwide, company officials note.
