Young people who have discovered flight through the EAA Young Eagles program now will have more options to further explore aviation as Sporty’s Pilot Shop has upgraded its Sporty’s Learn To Fly Course, which is available to all Young Eagles.
The upgraded course is offered at no charge, continuing the program that began with Young Eagles’ access to Sporty’s Recreational and Private Pilot Course. More than 15,000 young people have already accessed the Sporty’s course following their Young Eagles flights.
“Our recently-introduced Learn to Fly Course gives tremendous flexibility to folks starting their flight training,” said Sporty’s President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Wolf. “The Learn to Fly Course is a modular program that gets everyone focused on the most important first step — solo. Then users are given their choice to pursue a Sport, Recreational or Private license.”
Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course is delivered in new HTML 5 format, making it usable not just on your desktop computer, but also on iPads and other mobile devices.
“The Learn to Fly Course is ideal for a young person who wants to take that next step,” Wolf said. “That individual does not have to commit to any particular path of study with our course – just jump in and decide as you learn which certificate works best for you.”
At the conclusion of the solo component of the Learn to Fly Course, all Young Eagles will receive a free first flight lesson, compliments of EAA, and part of EAA’s Flight Plan initiative. Young Eagles studying with the Learn to Fly Course will also have the option to receive the FAA written exam endorsement directly from the course so they can quickly move to the written test portion of becoming a pilot. There’s even more help here for young people: EAA will also reimburse the cost of the FAA Written Test for those Young Eagles who have used Sporty’s Learn to Fly course.
“We’ve removed every barrier we can identify for Young Eagles to take that next step, and we greatly appreciate Sporty’s continuing to offer this now-upgraded course to all Young Eagles at no cost,” said Rod Hightower, EAA President and CEO. “It starts with our EAA-member pilots making sue that ALL Young Eagles receive their logbook at the end of their flights, so each young person has the opportunity to explore and discover their own path to flying.
