SANTA ROSA, Calif. —Sonoma Jet Center will host its 3rd annual Aviation Day on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport. The Aviation Day is a free and interactive event with activities for all ages and levels of aviation interest and involvement.
“We welcome everyone to join us on Aviation Day to learn about aviation, flying aircraft, and the airport. Whether you are a experienced pilot or someone who has always dreamed of soaring through the clouds, we think you will have a great time,” says Josh Hochberg of Sonoma Jet Center.
Highlights of Aviation Day include:
FREE AIRPLANE RIDES FOR KIDS: The local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is hosting a Young Eagles event to give interested young people, ages 8-17, an opportunity to go flying in an airplane. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers. Rides start at 8:30 a.m. and reservations are essential and can be made by emailing: [email protected].
REJUVENATING AVIATION: Don’t miss RAVI the Raviator’s inspiring lecture about learning to fly. Ravi, an accomplished musician and former guitarist for Hanson, uses his passion and energy to inspire people of all ages. www.TheRaviator.com
HELICOPTER AND AIRPLANE RIDES: Helicopter rides will be available for purchase from Sonoma Helicopter and introductory airplane flying lessons will be available from North Coast Air’s flight school. Or, take a special ride in a vintage aircraft with Old School Aviation.
ALTERNATIVE AVIATION FUELS: Learn about the newest innovations in alternative aviation fuels by leading fuels company, Swift Fuels.
RACING RENO: Local air race pilot veterans talk about the excitement and challenges of racing aircraft at the annual Reno Air Races.
