Petersen elected Lindbergh Foundation chairman

By Janice Wood · October 11, 2012 ·

The Board of Directors of the Charles A. and Anne Morrow Lindbergh Foundation has elected John L. Petersen as its new chairman, succeeding BRS Aerospace’s Larry Williams, who has completed his three-year term in the position. The change is effective immediately.

Petersen is the founder and CEO of The Arlington Institute and a prominent futurist and author. He has served on the board of the foundation for the past seven years.

“I’m sure I speak for the entire board when I say we are immensely grateful for what Larry has achieved in his tenure. He has brought the foundation to a new level,” Petersen said.

The Lindbergh Foundation is a non-profit organization, based in Anoka, Minnesota, which focuses on technological breakthroughs to address aviation-environmental issues. Its programs are devoted to supporting, honoring, and educating individuals, through three major programs: the annual Lindbergh Award, presented to individuals for significant contributions toward balancing nature and scientific innovation in their work; the Lindbergh Grants program, which provides grants in amounts up to $10,580 (the cost of building the Spirit of St. Louis in 1927) for research or education projects that will make important contributions to the technology/environment balance; and a variety of educational events including the new Aviation Green Alliance.
