EAA Holiday Auction under way

By Janice Wood · November 28, 2012 ·

Each year, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) hosts its Spirit of the Holidays online auction, with this year’s auction already under way.

This year 52 items are up for auction, ranging from B-17 or Ford Tri-Motor type ratings — with the value designated as “priceless” — a special once-in-a-lifetime AirVenture VIP package, which includes weekly admission to the show, lodging at an Oshkosh hotel, a week’s use of a golf cart, two Aviator’s Club weekly passes, invitations to the President’s BBQ and more; a Dynon D1 Pocket Panel, a 2012 Naval Centennial commemorative Breitling watch, posters, lithographs, a variety of books, and more. You can even bid to have a tree planted on the AirVenture grounds in your name.

This year’s auction runs through Dec. 10. As of late November, top items were the Dynon Pocket Panel, a signed photo from World War II ace Bud Anderson, EAA lifetime memberships, and a print of “Daylight Raid,” signed by the artist Frank Wooten.

The opportunity to both “give” and “get” unique gifts that share a passion for flight has far-reaching benefits, according to association officials, who note that all proceeds from the auction support EAA programs.

To check out the auction items for yourself, go to BiddingForGood.com. You will be required to register to bid on any of the items.

You can also sign up online for email updates about the auction, to help keep you up to date on all the action.
